Frank Zappa and Louie Louie
Frank Zappa carried along the burden of Louie Louie during all his career. He was fond of the mix of stupidity and geniality in Richard Berry's own interpretation, but detested what the Kingsmen had done to it. His love-hate relationship with the song shows itself in lots of interpretations, parodies, quotations and homages of the song, but at several occasions he also played the actual Louie Louie, sometimes with adapted lyrics. The covers of the actual song are in the A-Z section. Below are recordings by FZ that carry significant musical, lyrical or stylish relationship to LL.
